Friendswood Hospital ER is seeking an experienced and dependable X-Ray/CT Technologist to join our emergency care team. This is a multi-functional clinical role responsible for performing diagnostic X-ray and CT examinations while also supporting laboratory operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced emergency care environment and is committed to providing efficient, high-quality imaging, accurate laboratory support, and exceptional patient care.

As an X-Ray/CT Technologist, you will work closely with our physicians, nurses, and clinical team to perform diagnostic X-ray and CT examinations for emergency room and hospital patients and assist with laboratory testing, specimen collection, processing, and related laboratory responsibilities within the scope of training and facility protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray and CT examinations as ordered by physicians.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images while following established imaging protocols.
  • Prepare and position patients safely and appropriately for imaging procedures.
  • Verify patient information, physician orders, and appropriate imaging protocols before examinations.
  • Operate and maintain X-ray and CT equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow radiation safety and ALARA standards for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff with timely imaging needs in the emergency setting.
  • Assist with laboratory testing and specimen processing as needed within the scope of training and facility protocols.
  • Collect, properly label, handle, and process patient specimens, including blood and other samples.
  • Perform approved point-of-care and laboratory testing and accurately document results.
  • Follow established quality-control, infection-control, specimen-handling, and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Maintain accurate patient, imaging, and laboratory documentation.
  • Follow infection-control, patient-safety, HIPAA, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked imaging and laboratory areas.
  • Provide compassionate, professional care to patients and families throughout the imaging and laboratory process.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required.
  • Current Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license required.
  • CT experience required; ARRT (CT) certification preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Previous emergency room or hospital imaging experience preferred.
  • Laboratory, phlebotomy, specimen-processing, or point-of-care testing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple imaging and laboratory needs in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Strong communication, patient-care, critical-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills.
